Cookie policy
This page explains the cookies and similar storage technologies used on medistshspryg.cfd, what each category is for, how long entries last and how to refuse or remove them.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. Related technologies include local storage, which keeps data in the browser without sending it with every request. We use both. First-party entries are set by this domain; third-party entries would be set by a provider we use. Cookies cannot read files on your device or identify you by name on their own.
2. How consent works here
Essential entries are set because the site cannot function without them, and they do not require consent. Analytics and functional entries are optional: they are set only after you choose to allow them through the banner, and choosing "Reject Non-Essential" or leaving a category unticked in the preferences panel means the corresponding entries are not set. Your choice is recorded so the banner does not reappear on every page.
3. Categories in use
| Category | Purpose | Example entry | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Records your cookie choice so the banner is not shown repeatedly; supports security and load balancing at the hosting layer | cookie-choice (local storage); a session identifier set by the host | Until cleared; session identifiers end when the browser closes |
| Analytics | Counts page views and referrers so we can see which guides are read and where readers arrive from. Set only with consent, and any provider used for this is named in the privacy policy | A first-party measurement identifier | Up to about thirteen months, or shorter where the provider sets a lower limit |
| Functional | Remembers non-essential preferences such as a chosen display setting, so they persist between visits. Set only with consent | A preference key in local storage | Up to twelve months, or until cleared |
4. Changing your mind
To change a choice you have already made, clear this site's cookies and local storage in your browser and reload the page; the banner will reappear and you can choose again. The preferences panel inside the banner lets you allow analytics and functional entries separately rather than accepting everything.
5. Browser-level controls
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and the settings apply to all sites rather than just this one. In Google Chrome, open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Delete browsing data. In Mozilla Firefox, open Settings, then Privacy & Security, and use Cookies and Site Data together with Enhanced Tracking Protection. In Apple Safari on macOS, open Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, and use Manage Website Data; on iOS the equivalent sits under Settings, then Apps, then Safari. In Microsoft Edge, open Settings, then Cookies and site permissions. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards storage when the window closes.
Blocking all cookies and storage may stop parts of this or other sites working correctly — on this site, the effect is that your banner choice cannot be remembered, so the banner will appear on each visit.
6. Third-party providers
Where a measurement or hosting provider processes data on our behalf, it does so under written terms and only for the purpose we set. Providers and the safeguards applied to any international transfer are described in our privacy policy. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not permit third-party advertising networks to set entries through this site, and we do not sell data collected through cookies.
7. Legal basis and your rights
In the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, storing or accessing information on your device requires consent unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you requested, under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the ePrivacy Directive as implemented locally, read alongside the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Personal data processed through optional cookies is handled under the consent you give here, and you can withdraw it at any time using the steps above. California residents have rights described in the privacy policy.
